This July 4th flaunt your spirit with a pair of DIY decorated shoes. You can jazz up white canvas (duh!), but with such amazing paints available you can festoon red or navy canvas with great results. For plastic water shoes like Crocs and Native, use acrylic paint. Decorate a new pair, or re-fresh an old Crocs by first painting a base of all-over white. Then play Betsy Ross and add your own creative display of stars and stripes. Throw on a final coat of clear acrylic to make sure they last. Go patriotic all the way and purchase your shoes from an independently owned children's specialty shoe store like Jay's Shoe Box (in Livingston and Denville, NJ). Check out Jay's Cienta, Converse, Crocs and Native styles I love linked to below. See my recommended paints too.
